Annemarie played in the amateur musical show ‘Grease’, the TV series ‘Medisch Centrum West’ (Medical Centre West), the TV series ‘Help’ and the Frisian series ‘Frjemd’ (Strange).
At the Media Academie in Hilversum, she followed the course assistant director/script and continuity, after which she started working for IDTV. She became an assistant director for a.o. Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen, Rita Horst, Will Koopman, Roel Reiné, Ruud van Hemert, Erik de Bruyn, Ineke Smits, Rudolf van den Berg, Ben Sombogaart, Kees Vlaanderen, Boris Paval Conen and Todd Komarnicki.

Annemarie’s life didn’t just consist of working on a film set. In between shoots, she worked as a sailing instructor on the Italian island of Sardinia or travelled. She travelled around in Canada, the United States, Indonesia, Panama, Costa Rica, Thailand and Mexico and experienced some nice adventures.
Later on, she often went abroad for film shoots, and working and travelling became a pleasant combination in Georgia, Poland, Germany, Croatia, Austria, Belgium and France.
In 2003, Annemarie started working as a director for the youth series ‘Hotnews.nl’ (Cinekid Audience Award). After that she did directing assignments for ‘Goede tijden, Slechte tijden’ (Good Times, Bad Times) and ‘Verborgen verhalen’ (Hidden Stories).
In 2007, she started her own production company Annemarie Mooren Productions with the aim to produce children’s series.
The 13 episode children’s series ‘Puppy Patrol’ became her first production as a director and producer. The series received the Cinekid Audience Award in 2009 and was again nominated in 2010.
This was followed by the children’s series ‘Koen Kampioen’ (Charlie Champion), the children’s documentaries ‘Nora zoekt een sport’ (Nora Is Looking for a Sport) and ‘Kunstenaars’ (Artists).
In 2015, together with Dick van de Heuvel, she co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film ‘Keet en Koen en de speurtocht naar Bassie en Adriaan’ (Keet and Koen and the Search for Bassie and Adriaan). This was her first feature film as a co-author and director.
Apart from producing and directing, Annemarie now started writing her own series as well. ‘Puck en het verdwenen schaap’ (Puck and the Lost Sheep) became the first series which she didn’t only produce and direct, but had also written. In 2016, the series was nominated for the Audience Award at the Cinekid Festival.
Then followed a series of new episodes of the successful children’s series ‘Puppy Patrol 2’. With new kids, new locations and new adventures focusing on the Puppy Patrol kids, nature and the animals.
After ‘Puppy Patrol 2’, while pruning her trees, she came up with the idea of using the twigs to make dolls. In her workshop, the ‘Bosaapjes’ (Bush Monkeys) came to life and got their names: Ottie, Snottie and Tottie. Together with the children, they experience lots of wonderful adventures in the series ‘Bos Geheimen’ (Forest Secrets).
They say that working on a set with children and animals is the most difficult thing there is. But not according to Annemarie. She loves working with children and animals and sees it as an inspiration and a challenge. Children and animals are open, honest and instinctive. By listening to them and watching them, she learns a tremendous lot, as a maker, but also as a human being.
Apart from the animals, children and other actors, she also has a fantastic crew to work with. Together they’re one team, and without it she wouldn’t have been able to create all these wonderful productions.
Annemarie is now busy writing and producing new children’s series and documentaries. But more about that later…
